Joined December 2014 Shane Dunn (he/him) has served on the GLAD Law Board since December 2014. He served as President of the Board from 2022-2024. During his tenure as President, Shane oversaw our Executive Director transition and led the committee and process that brought Ricardo Martinez to GLAD Law as Executive Director. While President, the organization experienced significant staff and financial growth to achieve our mission. He currently serves on the board as Immediate Past President.
An experienced nonprofit external relations leader, Shane operates a social impact consultant business, Shane Dunn Social Sector Strategies. In this business, he partners with social sector organizations to advance their missions through philanthropy and engagement. He is also a Vice President and Senior Consultant with Chris Marshall Advancement Consulting (CMAC), which provides expert guidance and support to colleges and universities.
Shane previously served as Chief Advancement Officer at Rosie’s Place, a Boston-based nonprofit founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in America that provides sanctuary and services to poor and homeless women, where he led all fundraising, communications, volunteer services, and public policy efforts for the organization.
Before Rosie’s Place, Shane was Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Brandeis International Business School. Before that, he worked in various roles at Harvard University, Tufts University, MIT Sloan School of Management, Excel Academy Charter Schools, and Uncommon Schools. Active in several civic and political organizations, he has served on the City of Boston SPARK Council for young professionals, was a Fellow with Education Pioneers, was a founding co-chair of the Board of Trustees for Ellis Early Learning Center in Boston, and is actively reviving his local neighborhood association. In 2025, he will be a part of the selective LeadBoston program hosted by YW Boston for professionals in the City of Boston committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Shane is a first-generation college graduate of Cornell University and has served his alma mater in various alumni leadership roles locally and nationally. He also holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Boston College. Cornell honored him with a Young Alumni Achievement Award in 2024 for his volunteer work with GLAD Law, his commitment and service to Cornell, and his professional work focused on social impact and social justice. Originally from Waterville, New York, Shane is the son of a lesbian mother. Shane lives in Boston with his wife and two children.
