Lawyers Can Help: GLAD’s Lawyer Referral Service

GLAD receives thousands of phone calls each year from individuals seeking legal counsel and representation. It is critical that we are able to refer them to experienced attorneys throughout New England who are sensitive to the legal concerns of LGBTQ+ individuals, and people living with HIV.

You can make a difference by joining GLAD’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). Participating in GLAD’s LRS enables you to promote your practice and provide a service to the community at the same time.

Join the LRS

To join, please review the LRS Rules of Operation (prepared in keeping with ABA guidelines). Please note you will need to upload a copy of proof of your malpractice insurance or alternative. There is no membership fee.

Already an LRS Member?

If it has been over one year since you initially joined GLAD’s LRS or renewed your membership, you are due to renew. Please fill out the LRS Membership Renewal Form to renew your membership and continue receiving referrals. You can mail your completed Renewal Form and current proof of malpractice insurance (declaration page or certificate of insurance) to: Gabrielle Hamel, Public Information Manager, GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders, 18 Tremont Street, Suite 950, Boston, MA 02108.

You may find it useful to review the LRS Rules of Operation, which describes how the LRS works. This document was prepared in keeping with ABA guidelines for lawyer referral services.

Cooperating Attorneys

GLAD’s cooperating attorneys work in conjunction with GLAD staff attorneys on impact cases. They may act as co-counsel or may act in a supportive capacity providing legal research, writing and strategy. GLAD cooperating attorneys must carry their own malpractice insurance and must be members in good standing with one of the New England state Bar Associations.
