COVID Precautions FAQ: Spirit of Justice Award Dinner
COVID Precautions FAQ: Spirit of Justice Award Dinner
We are committed to celebrating safely and are making informed decisions regarding COVID-19 safety at this year’s event.
Will the event be held in person?
Yes! We’re looking forward to being together in person again and are making informed decisions regarding safety at the 2022 Spirit of Justice Award Dinner based on state mandates and guidance from the CDC. If we need to make any changes to our in-person plans, we will communicate directly with guests.
You can also join the event virtually if you are not comfortable or unable to attend in-person.
Will proof of vaccination be required?
Yes. GLAD is following trusted medical advisors who believe vaccinations are the best means of reducing the impact of COVID-19, so we are requiring all attendees to show proof of vaccination before joining the in-person event. We are also providing a virtual option with a livestream of the event so that anyone who is unable to be vaccinated or would feel more comfortable participating virtually can still learn about and celebrate GLAD’s work.
What if the name on my vaccination card/ID does not match the name I use?
When providing proof of vaccination, if any part of your name does not match the name on your card, please take a photo of the card and redact the part of your legal name that is not accurate. Our registration volunteers will be trained to check proof of vaccination by last name and then ask the name under which you registered rather than looking for the name on your card.
GLAD understands that the healthcare system can be alienating and difficult to navigate when you use a name other than that on your legal ID. We hope to maximize the comfort of our trans and nonbinary guests and prevent any undue harm. If you have any concerns about this process, please reach out to us.
Will social distancing be possible?
Yes. Our partners at the Boston Park Plaza have been incredibly helpful in working with us to provide ample space for guests. We have expanded the reception area to include both the Statler room and adjoining spaces on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Tables for the dinner portion of the evening will be spaced as far apart as possible as well.
Will masks be required?
While not required, we strongly suggest that guests wear masks and will provide masks upon entry. If you are approached by or would like to interact with someone wearing a mask, we ask that you put your mask on, too. For that reason, we ask that guests carry a mask at all times.
What precautions are there around the dinner portion?
Your dinner table will be your ‘home base.’ We are asking guests to only visit other tables with an invitation to do so. If your group would prefer to keep more to yourselves, you can do that as well. Salads will be pre-set, attendees can order bottles of wine in advance, and servers will provide a separate dessert display on each table.
What if I don’t feel comfortable being there in person?
No problem! We do have a virtual option again for this year’s event so you can join from the comfort of your own home. GLAD will livestream our speaking program, as well as some pre-show content, thanks to our partners at Classy Live. Although we will sorely miss being with you, we’re happy to be able to accommodate all levels of comfort with in-person gatherings.
We hope you will join us on Thursday, October 27. Get your tickets today!
