This is a great time of year to make a personal connection with state lawmakers and ensure that they understand the reality of Massachusetts families that they represent.

To help build support for the Massachusetts Parentage Act, please send a holiday card to your State Representative and State Senator this season. Share about your family, and ideally, include a photo!

Here’s a sample to get you started – but of course please personalize your message because we know this diverse coalition has many different experiences and stories!

Because the Commonwealth’s parentage laws are outdated, I had to adopt my own child after they were born. It took months, and our family was vulnerable during this time. [Your legislator’s name], all I want for the holidays is your commitment to protect all Massachusetts children and families equally by passing the Massachusetts Parentage Act (MPA, H.1713/S.947) as soon as possible in the New Year!

Thank you for making the time to build support for the MPA. Sending a card by mail before the end of 2023 will be the most impactful, but if you are unable to do this, please help out by emailing your legislators, which still makes a difference.
