Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) announced the appointments of David Hayter and Terry Holzman to its Board of Directors.

“I am delighted to welcome David and Terry to GLAD’s Board at this exciting time in our history,” said Board President Dianne Phillips. “Their expertise and commitment will help ensure that GLAD remains at the cutting edge of securing protections for LGBT and HIV positive people.”

David Hayter has held high-level executive and finance positions at Liberty Mutual, Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan and Manulife/John Hancock. While at Liberty Mutual, he was the founding co-executive sponsor of the company’s first LGBT Employee Resource Group. Holding an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, David brings to GLAD a wealth of knowledge and experience in investments, accounting and finance and has served on the boards of Wave Accounting, Community Servings, St. John’s Hospital Foundation, and the Wilfrid Laurier University Board of Governors.

“I’m excited and humbled to join the board of GLAD,” said Hayter. “I have seen the difference GLAD makes in helping legislators, courts, and the public understand and support LGBT equality.”

Terry Holzman is a Communications Consultant whose clients include such organizations as the Anti-Defamation League, Family Equality Council, Greater Boston Food Bank, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, Urban Edge, and many more. She has held leadership positions in communications and marketing with Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Jewish Family & Children’s Service and has volunteered with various human rights organizations including the Massachusetts General Hospital Division of Global Psychiatry, American Jewish World Service and the U.S. Peace Corps.

“Being on the board of GLAD is an honor, a responsibility, and the continuation of a long personal and professional passion for justice,” said Holzman. “Civil rights have never been easy to win, but it is surely our responsibility never to stop trying. And GLAD never stops.”
