GLAD joins with our community in mourning the loss of Ron Ansin, a beloved member of the GLAD family. Ron’s philanthropic impact can only be matched by his kindness and generosity of heart. His legacy lives on in the numerous organizations he helped grow and thrive over decades, including GLAD. We send our deepest condolences to Ron’s family and especially to his husband, Jim.

A GLAD donor since 1994, Ron played a pivotal role in our growth. In 2007, Ron organized a campaign that raised nearly $200,000 for GLAD and inspired 139 new donors to join the GLAD family. Ron also supported various causes such as the Boys & Girls Club, Lawrence Academy, and LGBTQ+ rights organizations, including Lambda Legal, GLSEN, GLAAD, the ACLU, and National Stonewall Democrats. In 1999, Ron received the national Alexis de Tocqueville Society Award, the United Way of America’s highest honor for volunteer service, joining such luminaries as Jimmy Carter, Ambassador Walter Annenberg, and Vernon Jordan.

Ron’s steadfast enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment to bettering the lives of others will forever be part of his and GLAD’s legacy.
