About the Event

Thank you to all who joined us for a fantastic afternoon of community and celebration. Our congratulations to Rep. Allie-Brennan once again! Our gratitude goes out to our sponsors and to the staff at the Studio and Kitchen at Forge City Works.

About the Honoree:

CT State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan

Raghib Allie-Brennan proudly represents Connecticut’s 2nd Assembly District in the state’s House of Representatives, having been first elected in November 2018. After graduating from Bethel Public Schools in 2009 and Marymount Manhattan College in 2013, Raghib worked as a policy advisor in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He is one of only two openly gay members of the General Assembly and has been instrumental in advancing proactive LGBTQ policy. In 2019, he successfully led floor debate on legislation to establish a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Health and Human Services Network to make recommendations to the State about how to work toward a safer and healthier environment for the LGBTQ+ community. He has fought discrimination through bills like banning the Gay and Trans Panic Defense in criminal cases and restoring state benefits to Connecticut service members who were denied an honorable discharge due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Raghib is a former board member of Triangle Community Center in Norwalk and resides in his hometown of Bethel.
