New Hampshire’s HB 148 singles out transgender people for discrimination, making it harder for them to safely participate in daily life.

HB 148 is a broad and harmful bill that would roll back protections for transgender people under New Hampshire nondiscrimination law.

The bill would allow policies that isolate and exclude transgender people in public spaces, including restrictions on transgender people’s access to places like restrooms and locker rooms. It would endorse discrimination in school sports programs, setting transgender students up to be denied the same opportunities their peers have to play, grow, and be part of a team. And it would put transgender people in correctional facilities at significantly greater risk of harassment and violence.
