GLAD is playing a key role in the Freedom New Hampshire coalition working to pass legislation to update the state’s existing civil rights laws to provide fully inclusive protections for transgender individuals.

Momentum is building for transgender rights in New Hampshire, with town after town passing non-discrimination ordinances. Representative Ed Butler introduced non-discrimination legislation in December, 2016.

The bill has already received strong support from across the political spectrum, as well as from law enforcement, civic, faith and business leaders throughout the Granite State.

A hearing was held before the Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs Committee on February 21, 2017, with 49 testifiers in support of the bill and only 7 opposed.
