Let all students play school sports in New Hampshire
Status: Victory
Transgender girls deserve to have full access to all educational opportunities, including playing on girls’ sports teams.
GLAD opposes HB 198, a bill that would ban transgender girls and young women from playing school sports. Such bans are harmful and unfair, and deny trans kids the important experiences and lessons that young people get from playing sports. Make sure your lawmakers oppose this bill to maintain a New Hampshire where all young people, including transgender youth, can live free and thrive.
UPDATE – March 2021: The House Education Committee voted to retain the bill rather than send it to the House with a positive or negative recommendation. This means that transgender girls and women may continue participating in sports programs as they have been doing for years. The bill now remains with the committee to discuss potential changes for the 2022 session. Read our statement.
