HB 1077 would repeal New Hampshire’s ban on the dangerous and discredited practice of “conversion therapy” on LGBTQ+ youth.
Conversion therapy attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity – a practice that experts including the American Psychiatric Association to the American Academy of Pediatrics agree is not only ineffective, but harmful. Young people who have been subjected to conversion therapy are at increased risk of depression, suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts, and illegal drug use.
