GLAD’s 22nd Annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner to be Held 10/21 at Boston Park Plaza

We are pleased to announce that GLAD’s signature gala event, our 22nd Annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner, will be held at the Boston Park Plaza on Thursday, October 21. While we will continue to monitor state and federal health guidance and prioritize safety of attendees, volunteers and staff, we look forward to the opportunity to gather in person once again this year.

The Boston Park Plaza is a new venue for the Spirit of Justice Award Dinner, and we are proud to be holding the event at a hotel where workers are members of UNITE HERE Local 26.

Why are we changing venues?

We have previously held this event at the Marriott Boston Copley. However, we learned earlier this year that hotel staff were dismissed from their positions during the pandemic without adequate or promised support or the opportunity to return to their jobs without reapplying. Our discussions with the Marriott failed to assure us that they would address these issues adequately before October.

The staff members at the Marriott have provided consistently excellent service and been an integral part of making the Spirit of Justice Award Dinner a success each year, and we offer them our full support. In line with their stated wishes and our own organizational values, we made the decision to move the event to a new venue and are especially glad to be holding the Spirit of Justice at a hotel where staff are unionized.
