GLAD to Hold 36th Annual Summer Party in Provincetown July 29th

Kate Clinton will preside. Long-time Provincetown residents and business owners Jeanne Leszczynski & Diane DiCarlo will be honored

GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) will honor Jeanne Leszczynski and Diane DiCarlo at its annual Summer Party in Provincetown on July 29th.

Jeanne and Diane are longtime Ptown residents and supporters of the town’s cultural and scientific organizations. They formerly owned the Sage Inn and Lounge where they hosted visiting scientists and artists, as well as fundraisers for non-profits including GLAD.

“We’re thrilled to honor Jeanne and Diane, who have done so much for the Provincetown community, the LGBTQ community, and for GLAD,” said Janson Wu, GLAD’s executive director. “Jeanne and Diane supported GLAD’s work before, during, and after the fight for marriage equality – they truly embrace the notion that their own freedom is inextricably linked to the freedom of others.”

In 2010, Jeanne and Diane began hosting the Summer Party Prelude – a signature event for GLAD’s leadership supporters held the night before the Summer Party – in their home, and relocated it to Sage in 2012 after purchasing and renovating the Inn. Jeanne and Diane sold Sage earlier this year, and the Inn’s new owners are keeping up the tradition this summer.

“We love GLAD’s professionalism and ability to get things done,” says Jeanne. “And we love the Summer Party because – well – it’s a big happy party!”

Diane says “We can’t ignore issues because they don’t affect us personally. I doubt Jeanne and I are likely to be discriminated against in jobs or housing again. We aren’t directly facing the discrimination that many transgender members of our community continue to face. But we can’t ignore those concerns just because we have a certain amount of security now. That’s what keeps us involved.”

GLAD’s 36th annual Summer Party will take place Saturday, July 29th from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Pilgrim Monument at 1 High Pole Hill Road in Provincetown.

The popular event includes spectacular views, an open bar, and delicious food. Children are welcome for free and fun kids’ activities will be provided. The always brilliant and hilariously on-point Kate Clinton will host an exciting live auction featuring custom art, travel packages, engaging family experiences, and more.

Tickets and more information are available at www.glad.org/events.

The 2017 Summer Party co-chairs are Jane Barber & Linda Rohler, Scott Pomfret & Scott Whittier, Alix Ritchie & Marty Davis, TJ Walton, and Katherine & Kimberly Weir.
