Challenging Federal Marriage Discrimination
In the first concerted, multi-plaintiff legal challenge to Section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), GLAD filed a lawsuit on March 3, 2009, on behalf of eight married couples and three surviving spouses from Massachusetts who have been denied federal legal protections available to spouses.
