The United States Supreme Court will hear arguments March 27 against the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in Windsor v. United States brought by our colleagues at the ACLU, and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. More information about Windsor can be found at www.aclu.org/edie.
The day before, March 26, the Court will hear argument in the California marriage (Proposition 8) case, Hollingsworth v. Perry. For briefs and more information on the Prop 8 case, visit www.afer.org or www.scotusblog.com.
GLAD, under the direction of Civil Rights Project Director Mary L. Bonauto, coordinated the amicus strategy for the challenge to DOMA at the Supreme Court. GLAD's two challenges to DOMA, Gill v. OPM and Pedersen v. OPM, are being held pending a ruling in Windsor.
