GLAD Praises Appointment of Beth Robinson to Vermont Supreme Court

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) today celebrated Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin’s appointment of Beth Robinson to the state’s highest court.

“Beth’s intelligence, passion for justice, and down-to-earth nature will make her a superb jurist,” said Lee Swislow, executive director of GLAD.  “We are thrilled for her and for the people of Vermont today.”

Robinson and Susan Murray co-counseled Baker v. Vermont with GLAD in 1999.  The case resulted in the nation’s first-ever civil unions.  Robinson then led Vermont Freedom to Marry on a successful ten-year campaign for marriage equality. 

GLAD presented Robinson with the Spirit of Justice Award in 2009.
