Our Work Is Not Done Until Everyone in the LGBT Community Is Protected
Nights like last Saturday night at Latino Pride, held by Somos Latin@s LGBT Coalition of Mass., remind me how much I love my job. What other job would allow me to accept an award in honor of GLAD’s work with the Latino community, in the company of other amazing award recipients like Miss Mass Gay Latina 2010 herself - Ms. Tatiana Jackson - who also thrilled us with multiple performances!
As I told the crowd that night, while GLAD is honored to accept Somos Latin@s’ Partnership Award, we view our work with the Latino community as more than a partnership; it is core to our mission of ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and HIV status throughout New England. From our work on marriage discrimination (which disproportionately harms communities of color), to employment discrimination (which disproportionately harms communities of color), to GLAD’s support for humane and just immigration reform, GLAD understands that our work is not done until everyone in the LGBT community is protected.
Muchísimas gracias por todo el apoyo de la comunidad Latina, y con ustedes continuaremos nuestra lucha por igualdad y justicia para todos bajo la ley.
