Boston Pride 2009
What a beautiful day for Boston Pride 2009!
We had a great group of marchers: staff, board, current and former plaintiffs, supporters and volunteers, and several first-time marchers. Everyone lined up on Tremont Street wearing their GLAD t-shirt, holding up our 30th Anniversary posters, and patiently standing while I went around “tattooing” our marching contingent until the start of the parade. The float next to us blared festive music while we waited, excited to celebrate everything that happened this past year.
It seems fitting that the year we celebrate five years of marriage equality in Massachusetts, is also the year where we gain marriage in Connecticut, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire! Not to mention the countless other events that have taken place, including the filing against Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act and the launch of our Transgender Rights Project.
Needless to say, though we were towards the end of the lineup, the crowd was still out to cheer us on and show love for everything GLAD has to celebrate this year when it comes to “Trans-Forming Our Community.”
