ENDA Committee Hearing Wednesday, September 23

The House Education and Labor Committee will hold the first full committee hearing on the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) on Wednesday, September 23.  ENDA would prohibit workplace discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST, and can be viewed live on the committee website (click on Live Webcast in the top right corner).

This is essential legislation that will provide crucial protections for LGBT people. The bottom line is that if people cannot work, they cannot take care of the most basic needs for themselves and their families. It is well past time that Congress pass this bill.

Act Now to Pass ENDA in 2009

To pass ENDA in Congress in 2009, we must speak up loud and clear. We must flood their offices with calls and emails.

Contact your Representative and Senators today to ask them to take swift action to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act:

  • Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and have them connect you to your representative (based on your zip code) and your senators. Ask them to stand with our community by supporting this important legislation.
  • Once you’ve made your call, reiterate your support with an email

  • Forward this information to your friends, families, and colleagues across the country, and ask them to contact their legislators, too.
