Attorney Janson Wu Joins Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), New England’s leading LGBT legal rights organization, is expanding its legal staff with the recent hiring of Janson Wu as its newest staff attorney.

Wu, a graduate of both Harvard University and Harvard Law School, is currently a coordinating attorney with the Tri-City Community Action Program, a multi-service, anti-poverty organization, where he provides legal services to low-income individuals.

“We’re excited to welcome Janson to the GLAD team,” said Lee Swislow, Executive Director of GLAD. “His litigation experience, interpersonal skills, and commitment to diversity will help GLAD to continue to make progress advancing and defending the rights of the LGBT community and people with HIV.”   Wu will start his work at GLAD on May 1, 2006.

Before working at Tri-City Community Action Project, Wu was an associate at the litigation law firm of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges in San Francisco.  In San Francisco he volunteered on an LGBT anti-violence hotline, for the Lawyer’s Committee on Civil Rights, and for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel.   Wu is a member of the bars of Massachusetts and California, and serves on the board of Coro Allegro, Boston’s only LGBT chorus.

Wu joins an experienced and accomplished legal team that includes Legal Director Gary Buseck, Civil Rights Project Director Mary Bonauto, AIDS Law Project Director Bennett Klein, senior staff attorney Jennifer Levi, and staff attorneys Karen Loewy and Michele Granda.
